College can be challenging, demanding, stressful, costly, and overwhelming. But it's an experience of a lifetime that not one person doesn't wish they could repeat all over again. Some people take advantage of all the opportunities, while others party until the sun comes up. However your college days are spent, there is one thing that every student MUST complete before graduation... an internship.
Yup, the deathly concept of fetching for coffees and making copies of important documents to then file in a massive filing cabinet labeled in coding that only makes sense to the person who labeled the files. An internship is not something people look forward to so to say, but it does create connections and experience for the real world.
Some people get ahead and do more than one. If your lucky, you get one in the industry you want to land a job in. I for one had that goal when I started college, to gain as much experience as I could. My major/minor consists of three different industries, fashion, communications, and event planning. This opens more doors for me than just one field.
Last summer I interned for a small advertising and public relations firm in a local town near me. It was great experience, taught me a lot, but I was seeking more towards fashion related. This summer, I managed to get a dream internship in Manhattan. Another public relations firm, but in fashion and lifestyle. This is the ultimate experience that makes me excited yet nervous. It is in fashion, in NYC, and intimidating. All the things the fashion industry consists of!
This blog will be my way of sharing my experiences through my eyes as an intern. I hope your just as anxious as I am because I start Tuesday, still don't know what to wear, and have to find my way to 11 ave! Wish me luck...
Good Luck!
